This single player scrabble game is free to download and play.  It’s not a bad way to play scrabble against a computer if you don’t mind using an interface that is very basic.  It won’t impress you visually, but the game play is great.  Also, once you’ve downloaded the game, you don’t have to be online to play, which is great if you’re traveling or playing on the go.  Overall, the things this game lacks in visuals and fancy options, it makes up for in providing a free downloadable single player game that is just as good as playing the original Scrabble board game.

This site is more difficult to navigate than some of the others, but it does offer a good free version of online scrabble, with a variety of different game modes like classic, tournament, etc.  If you get sick of playing the same old style on some of the other sites, then this site might be worth checking out.  It’s not our first choice for a site to play scrabble against a computer, but it’s not bad.

This is another new site that allows you to play single player, but it’s slightly different than the original game, and in our opinion, not quite as fun.  If you get sick of the other versions, we definitely encourage you to try this version out because it’s completely free, and extremely simple to get into and use.  However, it certainly isn’t our first choice for a website to play Scrabble online against computer opponents, which is why we listed it near the bottom.

Playing with friends is a great way to see and learn new strategies that you might not have thought of.  Single player is fun, but after you a while you tend to play the same strategy each time, with slight variations depending on the letters you receive and how the board turns out.  But playing against other live people will show you new strategies, new words, and new ways of playing that will end up benefiting your game and making you a much better player.

We also think it’s simply a lot more fun overall! It can get boring pretty quickly playing against a computer, whereas playing online against friends or random people remains fun for a very long time, and really never gets old.
